BT delivers 100,000th truck with BT Powerdrive

The Orion LPE200 powered pallet truck was delivered to Deutsche Post Fleet Management GmbH in March, and handed over in a ceremony including representatives from Deutsche Post and BT Europe.
BT Orion LPE200
The BT Powerdrive project started in 1997 with the object of reducing the number of components required to control the truck and integrating all the electronics into the steering handle. The BT Powerdrive handle was also notable for being the first to be made out of resilient plastic rather than steel. This is now standard on similar trucks from other manufacturers.

BT Powerdrive—part of BT’s Orion, Ixion, and Opus ranges—is an advanced integrated drive and control system that delivers excellent ease-of-use, performance, and efficiency. Simple CAN-bus wiring connects a central processor, which monitors and controls all performance aspects of the truck, to a powerful and efficient separately excited motor.

Smooth, powerful performance is assured in all conditions, due to the combination of motor technology and the switchless control system. Low energy consumption and regenerative braking mean that all BT Powerdrive trucks can achieve more work cycles per battery charge than conventional trucks.

All trucks with BT Powerdrive feature programmable performance via the handle without use of any tool. Maximum speed, acceleration rate, and automatic speed reduction settings can be adapted to the needs of each driver and application.

The BT Powerdrive handle has been in use since the Orion range of powered pallet trucks was launched in 2000.The Powerdrive units are used in a large number of different models and have contributed to further improve the high quality level of the products."
