The BT trucks are produced at manufacturing sites where the environmental issues are in focus. Environmental systems, certified according to ISO 14001 standards, are either in place or establishment is in progress. Waste management and reduction of hazardous chemicals used in production are natural parts of the everyday environmental work.
Furthermore, the paint systems used for BT trucks have been changed to systems with very low emissions of solvents. In fact, there has been a dramatic reduction of solvent emissions by employing the new paint-shop technology at the production sites.
Not only the production but also the environmental impact of the trucks is focused on. The trucks contents of substances harmful to the environment are analyzed. Suppliers are requested to avoid materials with hazardous effects on the environment. For several of the trucks environmental declarations are available. The declarations are made according to ISO 14001:2004.
